Buying a new or used vehicle is a major decision for you and your family. Many shoppers compare prices at several dealerships before they buy, and we encourage it. We enjoy working with customers who know exactly what they want and what they want to pay.
When you compare, the number that matters is the one you sign, not the one you click on. Some dealerships hold back charges until you have spent hours at the store and are ready to sign. Those charges go by many names, but they all mean the same thing: you pay more than the price you were shown.
At Lester Glenn Chevrolet of Old Bridge, the price you see is the selling price. Outside of tax, licensing, and registration, nothing gets added at the desk. That has been the Lester Glenn way since 1956, and it is how we do business in Old Bridge.

Our advertised prices do not include any offers, incentives, or rebates that you must meet criteria to qualify for. Those incentives may be offered in addition to, but are never included in, an advertised price at Lester Glenn. If you do qualify for a special program, great! We will be able to save you even more money. But if not, no worries. The price you see includes only rebates that all customers within our local geographical area qualify for.

Our price may look higher online
We may not always have the lowest number on a search page, and we are fine with that. Our online price already includes destination on new vehicles, reconditioning on used vehicles, and our doc fee. A lower number that leaves those out is not a lower price. We will always be competitive, and we will always be transparent.
Every new and used vehicle is sold recall free
When a vehicle arrives in our inventory, our service department checks it for open recalls. We check again while it is in stock and once more at the time of sale, so you drive home focused on your new car, not a recall notice.

What is a doc fee?
A documentation fee covers the cost of preparing and processing the paperwork for the sale or lease of a vehicle. At Lester Glenn, our doc fee is already included in the price you see.
Buyer tip: New Jersey does not cap doc fees, so a dealership can charge any amount. A low vehicle price paired with a high doc fee can cost you more than a higher price with the fee included. Always ask for the number.
What is a destination charge?
Every new vehicle has a destination charge set by the manufacturer to cover shipping from the factory to the dealership. It may also be called a freight, delivery, or transportation charge.
Buyer tip: Some advertised prices leave destination out, and some buyer's orders list a second delivery or transport charge on top of it. At Lester Glenn, destination is always included in our price, and there is no second charge.
What is a reconditioning or prep fee?
Before a used vehicle goes on sale, it is typically inspected, serviced, repaired, and detailed. New vehicles are also prepared for delivery. Some dealerships bill these costs to the buyer as a separate line after a price has been agreed on.
Buyer tip: Ask whether reconditioning, prep, or shop charges are included in the price or billed separately. At Lester Glenn, they are already in the price you see.
What is a “finance only” price?
Some advertised prices include a discount that only applies if you finance through the dealership's lender. If you pay cash or use your own bank or credit union, the price goes up.
Buyer tip: Read the disclaimer under any advertised price. Ask for the price with cash and with outside financing, so you know which number you are really comparing.
Which rebates are included in an advertised price?
Manufacturer rebates can make a big difference in price, but many are targeted. Loyalty, conquest, military, first responder, and recent grad rebates only apply to buyers who qualify, and dealer-specific rebates may only apply to a small group of past customers.
Buyer tip: Ask which rebates are built into the price and whether you qualify for every one of them. If you do not, the price you were shown is not your price. At Lester Glenn, our advertised prices include only rebates that every customer in our local area qualifies for. Special programs you qualify for are savings on top of that.
What should I ask for when I compare dealerships?
Ask every dealership for an itemized out-the-door price. It should show the vehicle price, every dealer fee, the rebates applied, and the state fees and taxes. That is the only number that lets you compare one dealership to another fairly.
Buyer tip: An out-the-door price is often higher than the first price a dealership quotes, because the first price can leave charges out. Get it in writing so the number does not change when you arrive.
Why can't you match some prices or promotions I see elsewhere?
Read the fine print on every advertisement. Every Chevrolet dealer buys new vehicles from the manufacturer at the same cost, so a price far below the rest of the market usually comes with conditions, like required financing, targeted rebates, or fees added later. If you have a legitimate written offer from another dealership, bring it in. We will do our absolute best to match it, if not beat it.
